Calls for AEB tendering to be paused

Following the general election announcement which effectively means that no AEB tendering results are likely to be published before the results are out, there are calls for a long-term pause in the contracting process. This would prevent Independent Training Providers suffering even more uncertainty about what will happen to their funding after July, particularly when FE Colleges already have their allocations. Tender results were supposed to be announced on May 19.

Another result of the election is the period of purdah which began on Friday 21st April until after the results are published. Purdah places restrictions on the types of external communications that can be issued and includes announcements about new initiatives. This is because the civil service must be seen not to be doing any work that has a party affiliation.
